Demonstrably
sustainable

Our herbs are grown sustainably and with respect for nature. We are also constantly searching for innovations that make our herbs even tastier, healthier and more sustainable. The following three certificates (of which we are very proud!) exemplify the success of our sustainability initiatives:

GlobalGAP Fruit and Vegetable module
Food safety, sustainability and quality: the GlobalGAP certificate shows that we comply with strict global standards related to hygiene, water quality and the temperature and humidity in the greenhouses.

MPS-A+
MPS is a globally recognised environmental certificate handed to companies that have shown their sustainability initiatives to be measurable and transparent. Their level of sustainability is determined by the recorded use of energy, water, waste, pesticides etc. With a score of A+, the highest achievable level, this certificate shows we are one of the most sustainable companies around.

PlanetProof
Our “On the way to PlanetProof” hallmark (from Stichting Milieukeur, the Dutch environmental hallmark foundation) shows that our products are grown sustainably and with respect for nature. The hallmark focuses on the five separate areas in the Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations: soil, landscape & biodiversity, water, energy, production & consumption and climate.

Natural
defenders

We use natural defenders to protect our crops from diseases and pests: insects such as predatory mites and bugs and parasitic wasps keep an eye on our plants. This preventive approach ensures a natural balance in our greenhouses and makes chemical products superfluous.

Circular
water use

With a storage capacity of 5,000,000 litres, we collect rainwater in reservoirs around our greenhouse complex. We use this water for the ebb and flow tables on which our herbs are grown: we allow the tables to fill, and once the roots have absorbed enough water, the excess flows back into the reservoirs, ready for reuse. A no-waste solution!

Inventive with
energy

Clean, circular, economical: responsible and efficient energy management is very important to us. Our greenhouses are lit with LEDs, and we generate some of our energy using solar panels on the roofs of our sheds. We also use the excess heat from the deep-freeze units in our sheds, and partially heat our greenhouses using the heat and cold storage underneath these sheds.
